What you actually do
Pick one and see the screen it happens on.
You can select any one of the 12 full-member international teams. Your career starts in October 2026, and you develop your team and play year after year in career mode. Your career can last as long as you want.

The game includes real fixtures from day one of your career: a real international calendar that gives you the feeling of managing your country in the real world. It has all the major tours and tournaments:
- Home and away tours, with Test, ODI and T20 legs
- The Ashes and other multi-Test series
- A 50-over World Cup every four years, starting with 2027 in South Africa and Zimbabwe
- A 20-team World T20 every two years, starting with 2028 in Australia and New Zealand
- The Asia Cup each September, in either 50-over or T20 format
- A two-year Test Championship, with every Test on the calendar counting towards it
- ODI tri-series
- World rankings in all three formats, using the ICC's official points system

Just like real life, you award central contracts to up to 30 players at the start of the season. You also assign a captain for each format. You can train your contracted players and watch their skills improve over time, and as their skills improve, so does their performance in the game.

You select squads before each tour or series from a pool of all the international and domestic players in your country. To help, you can see each player's career, current and last season stats, his skill values, and filter by role. Then you pick your playing XI before every game, looking at the conditions and the pitch. If it's turning, pick an extra spinner. Pitch and weather affect the game. Real grounds are in the game with their own character: a subcontinent pitch favours spinners, while English conditions suit the seamers. You also get to prepare the pitch for home matches and try to make home advantage count.

Matches can be simulated ball by ball or over by over. During a live match you get full control of the game:
- Batting aggression levels. Play defensively and protect wickets at 50/4, or go hard at the death
- Shield your tail-enders from the strike
- Set fields while bowling, and tell your bowlers what length to bowl
- See the opposition players' weaknesses, and bat and bowl against them accordingly
- The pitch wears as the match goes on and the weather affects play, so keep an eye on both

You get all the stats during the game:
- Detailed commentary on every ball, so you can enjoy the game as it goes
- Manhattans, worms, partnerships and over-by-over, all on the screen
- Wagon wheels for batters and pitch maps for bowlers, with how many balls were middled, how many were defended, how many short balls were bowled, and much more

Rest players for a tour and they recover. Players get injured and are out of action for days, weeks or months, so manage their workloads. Some players are more injury-prone than others.

There are nearly 5,000 players in the database, from established internationals to domestic players you've probably never heard of. They come with real career records across Test, ODI and T20I cricket, and the first-class, List A and T20 careers underneath them. Domestic cricket keeps going in the background whether you're watching it or not, so an uncapped player can spend two seasons making hundreds and taking five-fors before you finally decide he's earned his chance. Put players on your watchlist to keep an eye on them. You get news when they do well in domestic cricket, so you know when to pick them for the national squad.

Your nation comes with its full records: most runs and most wickets in each format, and the captaincy records. There is a trophy cabinet too, and your aim is to add more trophies to it.

Players don't stay at their peak forever. They improve when they are young, reach their best years, and eventually start to decline, and it doesn't happen the same way for everyone. Every year, new players (regens) come into the game as old players retire, so your career can run for as long as you want.

The game comes with a database editor. Search for any player and change his name, date of birth, batting hand, bowling style, role, batting position or retirement status. Share your changes with other players in the community, and apply their edits to your game.

Questions worth answering before you buy
- Where can I get it?
- On Steam, for Windows & macOS. It came out on 1 October 2026, and the price is on the Steam page in your own currency.Cricket Team Manager on Steam → (opens in a new tab)
- Is there a demo?
- Yes, free on Steam. You get 5 of your side's matches with any of the twelve nations and the whole database, played exactly as they are in the full game. It stops there, and because the demo is a separate app it keeps its own saves, so a demo career does not carry into the full game.Download the demo on Steam → (opens in a new tab)
- Does it need an internet connection?
- No. It is single-player and runs offline. Each career is saved as a file on your own machine, and Steam Cloud keeps a copy of your saves if you have it switched on.
- Can I manage a club or a domestic side?
- Not in this version — you take one of the twelve full-member nations. Domestic cricket is played out in the background so you can scout on a player's season, but you do not pick those sides. Managing them yourself is what the next major version is for.
- How do I watch a match?
- On a live scorecard, with detailed ball-by-ball commentary, Manhattans, worms, partnerships and a field diagram. Play it ball by ball or over by over, or simulate it and read the scorecard afterwards.
- Do players get injured?
- Yes. Fitness drops as a player is worked and comes back when he sits out, and a tired man is likelier to break down — some injuries cost days, some weeks, some months. You can rest a contracted player so he recovers quicker, but he plays no cricket while he is resting. It applies to every nation, not just yours.
- Can I save in the middle of a match?
- Yes. Leave a career match part-way through and it picks up on the same ball when you come back, which matters when a Test runs five days. If you would rather not finish it yourself, you can hand the rest over at any point.
- Can I edit the players and teams?
- Yes. There is an editor on the main menu covering a player's name, date of birth, batting hand, bowling style, role, batting position and what he has retired from. Edits go into a small text file you can pass to other people, so they can be shared and swapped around. One thing to know: edits apply to new careers, because a career keeps its own copy of the database from the day you started it.Read the database editor guide →
- Is there multiplayer?
- No. It is a single-player game and there are no plans to change that.
